I came across this song yesterday and I fell in love with it. I want to share it with all of you and hope you like it as much as I did! Enjoy!

This is him preforming it live.

The lyrics are here.

Lyrics to I NEVER MADE IT :

I’ve got my eyes open wide to the ceiling
I’m lying on my back in the centre of a room
I’ve got a voice giving me a funny feeling
Its telling me the world’s going to end real soon
I’ve got to get a job otherwise I’m unappealing
Do my little dance for the man and consume
So i let my energy build for the healing
So i can reign down with my super sonic boom
I’m held down by a fog on my way to the top
All clouded and the pressure won’t rise
I’m on a mission to the sky with the stars in my eyes
Yet the weather won’t compromise
Like a ball on a chain that is strapped to my brain
I’m a prisoner inside of my dreams
So i will appreciate the future of a day
Where the clouds open up and scream
And i sing now

I aint gonna spend my time wandering why i never made it
I’ve already made it
I aint gonna spend my days thinking about why i never made it

Like the pages of a novel at the bottom of a shelf
I grow stiff yet i keep my pride
Like the one raindrop in the centre of a rose
I’m in heaven with a world outside
Like another metaphor to describe my vibe
I’m just a vessel for my conscious needs
So i will appreciate the future of a day
Where the clouds open up and scream
And i sing now

I aint gonna spend my time…

Its times like this i need to lose my inhibitions
Raise my fist and forget about decisions
Help assist in the party that im giving
Take on the vibe and soon you will be singing
That its times like this ya need to lose your inhibitions
Just raise your fist and forget about decisions
I’ll help assist in that party that we’re giving
Take on the vibe and soon ya will be singing
I aint gonna spend my time wandering why, i never made it
I’ve already made it.

Band Pages

Kind of going off of the blog I posted a few days ago, when I talked about Topspin. Today I will be doing the same sort of thing but going into a little bit more depth. We were given in class today, a list of band pages to look at and see which one/s we liked the best. The list was: Tunecore, Reverbnation, CDBaby, Topspin, Nimbit, Sonicbids, Bandcamp and I bet you can’t guess what one I picked… Ha TOPSPIN!

Again the link is TOPSPIN

The thing I like the most about it is, the simplicity of the layout and how easy it is to maneuver around and find things.

Everything is right there in plain view.

They make it really easy to set up an account,

They make it look really appealing as well.

Then when you get to the band pages, it’s almost like it’s a different website. Everything is really colorful and crazy but at the same time it’s still organized. The bands can completely customize their pages and make them unlike everyone else. This is what I think sets Topspin apart from others like Bandcamp.

I, (once I start working on my own material for djing) will be getting an account with Topspin for sure!

Thanks for reading guys!

Digital Literacy:

  • The ability to use digital technology, communication tools or networks to locate, evaluate, use and create information. 1
  • The ability to understand and use information in multiple formats from a wide range of sources when it is presented via computers. 2
  • A person’s ability to perform tasks effectively in a digital environment… Literacy includes the ability to read and interpret media, to reproduce data and images through digital manipulation, and to evaluate and apply new knowledge gained from digital environments.
These three Bullet points are taken from the website: http://www.library.illinois.edu/diglit/definition.html Check it out for some more information!
So as the previous definitions went on about, Digital Literacy really means the ability to use the internet to it’s fullest. That’s really what it means when it’s all boiled down..
After looking around at some of the music websites ( Tunecore, Reverbnation, CDBaby, Topspin, Nimbit, Sonicbids, Bandcamp), I found that Topspin was my favorite.
My favorite thing about it is, at first it has this Facebook feel to it, but then once you click on an artist’s page, it’s like it has a Myspace feel where you can customize everything, and make things personal. I like that over the BandCamp. That one felt a little boring and kind of repetitive..
But that’s all I have for you today folks!
Post more later!
Have a great rest of your day!

The internet not only helped us “normal” people able to let our hard artistic work be heard. But with it being soo easy, everyone is going to be taking the opportunity to upload all their stuff so that other people can hear it as well. Finding music now days, is like trying to find that one certain thing in a grocery store that you’ve never been in before…  It’s hard to do… There are soo many options in there and even some foods you never even knew existed! It’s same with music on the internet now days, if not worse then the grocery store analogy. You just need to know where to look for things.

Just a thought of mine…

For all you math lovers out there, and even those of you that don’t really like math, I have found the new formula that is key, I say again, IS KEY to understanding the music business. If you are a musician that is looking at trying to “Make It Big” or at least trying to get known, y’all should know this very simple formula.

CWF + RTB = $$$$.

This means: Connect With Fans + Reason To Buy = Money.

Which means if you are a newer artist that wants to get more involved, get money, more fans, or anything else really, follow these steps.

(disclaimer…)

This is NOT guaranteed to make you famous. Sorry

But breaking the formula down, you NEED to establish a fan base. Keep it as personal as possible! You need people to listen/like your music enough to want to A.)listen to your music B.) buy things from you C.) see you at your shows. With this established you can then start to work on the next step in the formula.

The reasons for people to want to buy anything that you have to give.

Music isn’t just music anymore (at least when it comes to selling it…) It needs to go along with something that people can hold/use/see, aka pictures/ books/auto-graphs/ posters…etc

People also need options. Different choices with different values to them. Starting at free, then going up how ever much you are willing to give away/receive…

An example here:

Techdirt’s CwF + RtB

I hope this helps explain things!

Until next time… Bye!

For my midterm project in Ap-200, we were assigned to do a mashup (a combination of two or more songs compiled in to one song). The songs we were given to choose from were, Gonna Raise Hell-Cheap Trick, Crazy-Seal, Life In the Fast Lane-Eagles, I Can’t Dance-Genesis, Addicted To Love-Robert Palmer, Heart Of Glass-Blondie, Moving In Stereo-The Cars, Hot Sauce-Thomas Dolby, Rhiannon-Fleetwood Mac, Here Comes The Rain Again-Eurythmics and finally Wrapped Around Your Finger-The Police. Out of these songs, I picked Gonna Raise Hell and Life In The Fast Lane and possibly I might throw in a few more parts from other songs.. But a few of my friends and I worked for 6 hours cutting up songs last week and then tomorrow I have studio time and during that time I will be putting the loops together into a song. After I finish it, I will post it.

Web 3.0

“According to some Internet experts Web 3.0 will allow the user to sit back and let the Internet do all of the work for them. Rather than having search engines gear towards your keywords, the search engines will gear towards the user. Keywords will be searched based on your culture, region, and jargon. For example, when going on a vacation you have to do separate searches for your airline ticket, your hotel reservations, and your car rental. With Web 3.0 you will be able to do all of this in one simple search. The search engine will present the results in a comparative and easily navigated way to the user.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_3.0#Web_3.00)

With this as an introduction to Web 3.0, can you say that you’re not pumped for it? Or can you?

It’ll be the first “application” that can handle ALL media, Tv,radio, music, photos, music videos..etc Not to say that web 2.0(what we use now) doesn’t already do that, web 3.0 will do it better, easier and faster then ever before.

Here are a couple of pictures displaying a general predicted overview of what web 2.0 does now, and what web 3.0 will do.

I looked for pictures of what Web 3.0 would look like, but nobody knows what it would. Experts say it will all be in 3D.

All I can say, is I’m pumped for this to take form. How about you?
